Jeff's
Viewpoint
Mosport Park, August 18th 2002
Once again
Mosport provided the usual mixture of weather uncertainty and lots
of
"bump and
grind" competition. Friday saw the traditional downpours during practice
leaving Jeff
to get used to the new ride with his superb wet driving ability.
Jeff had
nothing but
praise for his involvement with Team Seikel , one of the world's leading
GT teams. "This is truly a first class deal" Jeff explained, saying nothing
was
overlooked
in the preparation of the car or in the checks between test runs.
"I feel
I have one of my best chances for a podium finish this weekend with Seikel,
things are
really looking
good!"
The fastest qualifying time for Seikel was turned by co- driver
Hugh Plumb as lack of
seat
time for Jeff did not allow him to fine tune himself to the car. With the
car being
qualified 6th in class, the team was ready to go. Jeff ran
the middle shift of the three
flawlessly, turning comparable times to the two regular drivers,
Tony Burgess and
Hugh Plumb. Jeff handed the Porsche over to Tony with a second position
podium in
sight . Unfortunately an altercation with a Team Cadillac LMP900
on lap 93 left Tony
doing the "guardrail Pirro-ette" between
turns 1 & 2. Fortunately , only the car and
the
team's hopes for a podium were shattered, though a 4th in class was still
theirs.
With all of
the structural repairs and painting of the car be performed by the
best at
PFAFF Autoworks in Newmarket,
Ontario Canada the Seikel Porsche GT3R will be
headed for
victory lane in the very near future!
